the place of myth
i think vast swaths of myth are exegesis
useful in the moment
but reaching reaching and lacking any insight into what they build upon
instruments
fashioned
Like a coral reef? Building on the empty corpse of what once was living knowledge?
nothing that dramatic
just
there is a reality
the gods exist
stories told about them shouldn't be sacrosanct
**some myths, and categories of myth are especially deforming of our understanding of the godsmyths that relate the gods to each other in an epic narrative esspcially
myths that are more focused on specific relationships less so, but judgement should be employed
that said
the modern ritualist/mythopoeicist should feel empowered to utilise myth in the manner it is used
preferably for spiritual ends though
