free will and dice

<obli>  Wyrd describes our constraint by past action but also our freedom to influence our future within the context of this constraint
<heathen_> if i need to get to work on time, im going to see the alarm clock
<HurTin> my question would by why must we contain our influence of the future by the constraints of this wyrd
* avocet (me@D66AEA.1A619B.73A762.B55BAC) Quit (Quit: )
<heathen_> but if i am going to understand and change the fact that i am bitter and angry and violent person then i am going to have do something else
<heathen_> have to do*
* Harley-Quinn is now known as demonjess
<obli> you don't control it HurTin
<HurTin> it controls you ???
<skumbag> future is limitless
<skumbag> endless possibilities
<obli> yes HurTin
<heathen_> to change, to grow in significant ways im going need to be able to look at my actions, thoughts and words and understand each and every one of them. in the moment they occur, without reflection
<obli> free will is a lie
<skumbag> dependent on what is done now to constrain the present in the future!
<HurTin> hmmm, i will have to think on that one for a while -obli
<skumbag> and so the cycle continues, each person has a different now, past and future
<heathen_> i agree, not such thing as free will
<obli> want me to the spoil the ending HurTin
<HurTin> please do
<obli> you won't be able to come to a conclusion... its best to just carry on as if free will exists
<HurTin> ssometimes laboring under a delusion is better than than the truth itself
<obli> well more utilitarian
<HurTin> lol, that is another way of putting it
<obli> if you say unequivilcly free will doesn't exist you've pretty much excused every injustice havn't you :P
<heathen_> what delusion is better than the truth HurTin?
<HurTin> well folks, i have had a good day and do not wish for it to end prematurely, so i will leave now - after all, midnight approaches
<skumbag> once you think a concept doesn't exist then it has stopped existing for you
* HurTin (HurTin@C8FB01.AF96BA.046928.6C253B) Quit (Connection closed)
<skumbag> i have free will
<obli> skumbag i feel like the answer lies in dice
<obli> if they are truely random then maybe free will exists
<obli> :P
<heathen_> joy is momentary, its lack of appreciation for joy that causes one to cling to it, to remember it and try to relive in. that is process that turns joy into pleasure
<obli> just need to break cause and effect
