final fantasy story structure
Maybe if the developers played through FF 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 maybe they'd understand how to build a good FF game. Remember the FF formula:
Act 1) Some nobody protagonist gets his life screwed up by some weird person or group, which turns out to have cataclysmic effects on the local area and personal problems for the people the protagonist cares about.
Act 2) Search for said person/group ends up revealing some domination/destruction plot that the protagonist, et al, needs to stop. On catching up with antagonist(s), protagonist finds out that things are much worse than expected, and the antagonist plot is global - it could destroy the world.
Act 3) Protagonist tries to stop antagonist at many locations, but fails and re-examines self for perceived weaknesses. Protagonist discovers fatal flaw in antagonist plot, but with high risk of death. Preparation ensues.
Act 4) Protagonist attacks antagonist just prior to antagonist plot reaching fruition. Massive battle, end sequence.
