The gods and their power over us

oblivion - Today at 11:37 PM
if religious mania causes you to undertake some kind of crazy fucked up performance, that is more spiritually valid than going through the motions for the sake of continuity
Ubik - Today at 11:37 PM
I would agree
oblivion - Today at 11:38 PM
considering the gods' claims aren't built on rationality but on potency
extremes of internal and external weather
Ubik - Today at 11:40 PM
potency of action in the world? or within oneself as an experience
oblivion - Today at 11:40 PM
it depends upon the god
gods are complex entities that exist across disparate spheres
potency to exercise power over humans
whatever form that takes
a power that cannot be unseated
Ubik - Today at 11:46 PM
But in your mind, what do you think the Gods are
oblivion - Today at 11:46 PM
i don't think the gods are all one thing
all one kind of entity
Ubik - Today at 11:47 PM
By that do you mean some of psychological in nature and personal, and some are singular beings existing independently of mankind all together
Because that is the major question of most, an the truth, even to those who have met them face to face, is still uncertain
oblivion - Today at 11:49 PM
they all exist independently of mankind... it doesn't mean they all arose independently of mankind
Ubik - Today at 11:49 PM
ah
So you are asserting a kind of aggregated thought form
oblivion - Today at 11:50 PM
in some cases
take Athena
the civilising impulse
arises when you gather humans together
without any of them willing it
Ubik - Today at 11:51 PM
A kind of emergent property
oblivion - Today at 11:51 PM
something in us governs our nature
maybe just the act of arrangement
there are other gods who manifest as storms and exercise their power over us  by blowing us away
